Madness Beverage is basically Doom that has been booted right up the backside, the game is pure adrenaline from the off blasting off zombie monsters with badass weapons you’ll definitely get no complaints from me.With the main protagonist more sweary than a certain Mr Nukem its clear to see where the inspiration has come for the game and to be fair it carries it off well, if you don’t go comparing it to other titles out there and take it for what it is then you’ll be fine and enjoy the experience. If you want to get picky the gameplay does at times feel slightly dated but look at it in another way and that is the charm of the game, a nod to days gone by, although the game does have it flaws and by no means perfect if you take the game for what it is, a good bit of retro gun busting fun.The game has varied levels with different levels of difficulty, each level having immense amount of enemies spawning at random times with varied dangers with some easier to get rid of than others, the addition of drinking the “beverages” kind of works but could’ve been much better utilized giving you more power or more upgrades.


Graphics and Sound


Graphics wise Madness Beverage really utilises the power of next gen with some really slick looking graphics, with the game worlds looking pretty awesome to run around. The graphics do slightly get let down by the enemy details looking a little dated but that doesn’t take too much out of the game. The many different weapons you can use look great, the AR style being my favourite I love a bit of machine gun action. The other good side of the graphics is the “retro mode” where you can switch to a more pixilated look giving a definite nod to the pixel age. I’d love to get a copy of that soundtrack, the voice acting is cheesy but in a cheesy action film good way something that you kind of need in a game like this. Taking the gaming right back to the golden age was a master stroke, a game is essential to have pure enjoyment and this even taking into account it’s flaws has it in bucket loads, a must have game for those looking for a retro shooter fix.
