Rolling Sky Switch NSP Free Download Romslab The mobile hit Rolling Sky rolls on over to the Nintendo Switch, and in it, the spherical sensation provides a unique taste to the usual platforming experience, testing the player’s reaction times, reflexes and speed with fun challenges accompanied by gratifying background music. The player controls a ball that rolls automatically and must traverse through many obstacles like spikes and lasers that can only be avoided by moving with perfect timing to the rhythm. In my Rapid Review, I will determine if Rolling Sky is well-rounded for the Nintendo Switch or if it should roll back over to mobile devices. One of Rolling Sky’s most iconic features is it’s catchy and delightful music that not only matches the required steps for movement but provide a pleasing experience while playing such a calm and small title. Audio is smooth and gentle contrasting to the high pressure the player goes through, trying not to mess up the pattern. Visuals consist of stunning 3D effects, such as the sphere the player controls and the challenging stages built out of floating square platforms. Each stage is distinguished with an abundance of colours and a multitude of different outputs. In the original iteration on mobile devices, the ball is manoeuvred via simple finger swipes. However, the Nintendo Switch allows Rolling Sky to be played in a completely parallel way, with controllers. Rolling Sky can be played with all setups, TV, Handheld or Tabletop. This, of course, enables Joy-Con and Pro Controller support. Touchscreen is still an option too.

However, while playing Rolling Sky, I didn’t feel like it was sufficient for the console.

Since the game is on portable phones and tablets, it would make sense to add it to another portable console but was that the best move? I discovered that using the touchscreen was difficult as the ball barely moved, so I tried the Joy-Cons. Unfortunately, they seemed to move the ball too quickly, as did the Pro Controller. While attempting to maintain these sensitive controls, it was difficult to get past the simplest obstacles. I wouldn’t replay this game on the Switch and would much rather move back to playing on a phone, where the controls feel more functional and straightforward. In conclusion, Rolling Sky is a good game, just not on the Nintendo Switch. Not only is the mobile version free, but it provides a more tolerable experience. Guacamelee! 2 Switch NSP

Also, a game like Rolling Sky shouldn’t be played with controllers. For each level that you pass, you collect coins that are used for the in game store to unlock cosmetic items. Different looking balls, from footballs to tennis balls. It’s pretty simple, you have two options on how to control the game. Firstly by joystick or the 2nd is by tilting the switch. On the first few play throughs I tried with the joy-con but to no avail, it is way easier to control the ball with the tilt option. It feels a lot more consistent and less laggy. With the joy-con, it felt like there was a sort of latency issue that made the ball jump from one side of the screen to the next which is less than ideal. For each level you get 10 chances, sounds loads right?

Think again, those 10 lives can be quickly diminished and once those 10 are gone,

It’s either wait for the balls to recharge.. or, pay up. Be quite tedious waiting on those lives to recharge all to just fail the same way you did the first time. This game overall, is just a quick and fun time killer where the player can just play an hour and call it a day. It’s easy to play at lunch while at work or during a car journey somewhere. It’s quite easy to say there won’t be that need to finish the game in a weekend. Every week, there are a multitude of new titles added to the Nintendo Switch’s eShop, from new AAA titles to small indie gems. Unfortunately this also means that some developers and publishers look to capitalise on this new and explosive market by porting just about anything and everything. Guardian of Lore Switch NSP

Rolling Sky falls into this category as a port of a mobile game that’s more of a cash grab than an actual, enjoyable and meaningful gaming experience. Rolling Sky is an endless runner game where you control a ball as you roll, dodge and bounce your way through levels filled with a multitude of obstacles. There are two ways to control your ‘ball’ – either via motion controls or by using the left thumbstick. This may be one of the only times I will ever say this but the motion controls are the better way to play this game. Gyro controls gives you the ability to make smaller, nuanced movements that are basically impossible when using the thumbstick. The sensitivity of the thumbstick is unbelievably high, so much so that moving the stick halfway to the left will tear you all the way to the edge of the playable area.

Gameplay

You are forced to hold these positions (sometimes within a single block radius) to dodge obstacles or make it to jump pads, which is made remarkably tough with the thumbsticks on the Joy-Con controllers. Of course, the Pro Controller would be an obvious better option, but with its mobile roots this is clearly a game meant to be played on the go.There are 38 levels included with the game. Each level has its own themed obstacles and music, including basketball hoops, Halloween cemeteries and laser-filled rave stages. The music included in these levels is probably the most enjoyable part of the entire game (even if it does sound like the most ‘public domain’ music out there). The idea is that you use the music to time your movements, but even that doesn’t stay try through all of the levels. Guild of Ascension Switch NSP

Unfortunately, you’ll most likely only listen to the first few seconds of each track over and over again as you try to progress little by little into each stage. Trying to get a handle on the controls and the sometimes fairly ridiculous opening few moments will force you to retry stages multiple times to even progress a few seconds. Rolling Sky is a good game in general. The 3D visuals are pleasing, and the soundtrack is fantastic. The platforming is good for curing boredom and providing a little challenge. However, it doesn’t feel as enjoyable on the Switch, making the mobile version more preferable.
